What is Functional Medicine?

Certified functional medicine practitioners (CFMP) believe that functional medicine is the future of medicine. The focus of functional medicine is that it seeks to identify and address the root causes of disease and take a “no band aid” approach to care. CFMP view the body as a whole, and not a collection of systems and sub-medical specialties. CFMP treat the whole person, and not just the symptoms. Treatments in functional medicine utilize the latest research findings in nutrition, supplements, and other natural tools for restoring balance in the body's primary physiological processes. At times medications are necessary while we are identifying the individual patients root cause of disease.
